hannah + dan | page az adventure engagement

hannah and i met way back in high school (go mountaineers!) but we hadn’t been in contact since – until springtime 2018 when we began chatting about living in phoenix. at that time, she and her fiancé were newly engaged and living together just outside the city, and luke and i were toying with the idea of moving there ourselves.

long story short, we got chatting and she asked if i would take their engagement photos when we were in the area, and of course i said YES! i sent her a photo of a couple at horseshoe bend, thinking “wouldn’t this be amazing?!” and to my surprise, she answered “we would be SO DOWN!!! you are the creative one. i trust you!!” and so the planning began. she picked out an airbnb for the four of us for a weekend in december while i scoured different tours and filled out photo permit paperwork.

at the time, neither of us anticipated that it’d be 30 degrees colder than what they were used to down in phoenix! oops. they were the best sports about it, though, and we ended up having the most amazing weekend – complete with three shoots, home cooked meals, and couch-time watching scary movies.

on saturday, we all woke up super early and headed to horseshoe bend for sunrise photos (props to hannah for wearing a dress and heels in the freezing cold!), drove back to the house for a quick nap, and then were off to antelope canyon for our photo tour. the canyon had been on my bucket list for quite some time now, and it definitely did not disappoint.

after a quick lunch back at the airbnb, we drove to lake powell and arrived just before sunset to squeeze in a quick 20-minute session that capped off the day.
